Starting Appointment Sessions

Start an appointment with a patient

There are two ways to start an Appointment Session in Mahmee:

(1) Select an Appointment Session from your Dashboard, or

(2) Search for a patient and start the Appointment Session from their Medical Record.

MAHMEE TIP: If a patient does not have a scheduled appointment for the current day, selecting 'Start Appointment' will redirect you to Schedule an Appointment first. All Appointment Sessions must be scheduled before they can be started.


Starting in-person Appointment Sessions

  1. From the Appointments Session page, select the Appointment Session you want to start.

  2. Select 'Start Appointment' from the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. The Appointment Chart will open so you can begin charting. Note: if the 'No Chart' option was selected, only the Visit Summary will display.

  4. When the Appointment Session is done, select 'Save for later' to pause your charting and complete it later.

  5. When charting is fully complete, select Finish to lock the chart.

OR

  1. From an individual patient's Medical Record, select 'Start Appointment' at the top of the page. You will be redirected to the patient's Appointment Session details page.

  2. On the next screen, select 'Start Appointment' from the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. The Appointment Chart will open so you can begin charting. Note: if the 'No Chart' option was selected, only the Visit Summary will display.

  4. When the Appointment Session is done, select 'Save for later' to pause your charting and complete it later.

  5. When charting is fully complete, select 'Finish' to lock the chart.


Starting video appointments

Charting your appointment during a video appointment is possible in Mahmee. Some providers prefer to use two devices (e.g., a desktop or laptop computer for video, and an iPad or mobile device for charting). Other providers use one device with Mahmee Video in one tab, and charting in a separate tab. Mahmee can accommodate both workflows. Here's how:

  1. From the Appointments Session Page, select the individual Appointment Session you want to start.

  2. Select 'Start Appointment'.

  3. A pop-up will prompt you to select “Edit Chart & Summary” or “Start Video Call”.

  4. Selecting “Edit Chart & Summary” displays the appointment chart in your current tab. Selecting “Start Video Call” will open the Appointment Chart in your current tab and Mahmee Video will open up in a new tab.

If you are using 2 devices, select, "Edit Chart & Summary” on one device and then "Start Video Call" on the other device.
