Birthing persons can experience mood and emotional changes during pregnancy and/or postpartum.

Mahmee recognizes the value in early detection of mental health needs in a birthing person and leverages mental health screeners to open the conversation about a patient's mental health.

Screenings offered

Mahmee offers screenings to effectively identify the presence and severity of a mental health concern with a patient to drive clinical decision-making at the level of what the person needs.

Current screenings offered (English and Spanish):

  • Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Screening (EPDS)

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder- 7 items (GAD-7)

  • Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9)

Furthermore, screening result data can be exported with the Data Export add-on feature (Note: Some features may not be visible due to the type of Membership plan selected or permissions given by the account admin.)

How to use Screenings

  1. The patient views and completes the screening from their Care Plan.

  2. After completing a screening, you are notified in Mahmee messages to view scores and responses.

Viewing screening responses:

  1. When the patient completes a screening, you will receive a Mahmee message notification containing options to view responses or to message the patient.

  2. From the patient's medical record, select the Plan tab. Scroll or use the search filter to locate the screening.

  3. Select the three dots on the screening you want to view

  4. Select 'View responses'

Viewing calculated scores

Screening scores are located in the patient's 'Medical Record' tab. Most recent screening scores are shown along with the date the screening was taken.

Screening Flags

pear on the Flagged Patients section on your provider dashboard. All patient Care Team members who have permission to view patient data will receive a notification about the elevated screening score. Click on the flag to see the patient's score.
